Llandod Contrex Challenge
This year sees the return of the family fun event Llandod Contrex Challenge a return distance of 1,310 miles. Last year we cumulatively rode Llandod Bad Rapp a distance of over 730 miles. Now we have a new challenge with a new course but still enjoying the area around the lake which will be closed all weekend so all ages can enjoy riding in safety.
Llandrindod Wells is twinned with Bad Rappenau in Germany and Contreville, France, so this is a chance to remind us that the distance to France is not a great deal further away than Scotland or Germany. But one way is clearly not challenging enough. We're going to ride there and back !
There’s still time to buy some bikes for each family member and they don’t have to be brand new. Last year the Green family of five was able to get everyone kitted up with bikes, helmets and a gift of a bike carrier for under £500. Getting started in cycling doesn’t need to costs the earth. If the kids really take it to it, you can upgrade to bigger and better bikes in time.
Every entrant gets a certificate. Medals will be awarded to those who come in fancy dress, dress up their bike or their helmets or who ride a big distance. We will be sending out our flyers again to the schools in early June to remind parents to get all their bikes out and get ready to go out as a family and have a fun time together so look out for our leaflet then. There will be pre-registration of entrants.
